I was there 4 times and was only lucky with the weather once (otherwise it was snowed in, too much rain, totally foggy).
If you are lucky enough to see the source of the Elbe all by yourself (I had three minutes without other tourists), the place gets another fascination.

We walked up to the Elbe spring at the end of October.
Were caught by a sudden snow storm on the heights.
But we had the source of the Elbe all to ourselves.
A very nice place.
There are numerous weather huts on the way to seek shelter from storms or for a relaxed picnic

The Elbe (Czech Labe) begins its 1154 km long run in the high moor called "Labská louka" (German Elbe meadow), below the Veilchenspitze (Czech Violík).
The actual source of the Elbe is about 300 meters to the west in the middle of the "Elbwiese", but its access is prohibited for nature conservation reasons.
Its symbolic source (brick ring with inflow and outflow) is at an altitude of 1386 m above sea level. dm.
The area of the spring belongs to the place Špindlerův Mlýn (German spindle mill).

It is difficult to recommend a place which, due to its location at the crossroads of several Karkonosze trails, is usually terribly crowded. However, even without the crowds of tourists, I cannot consider this symbolic spring of the Elbe as an attraction. There are many exceptionally beautiful and worth seeing places in the Karkonosze Mountains, but this is not one of them.

In fact, the real source of the Elbe cannot be determined, as it consists of the swamp meadows behind the symbolic Elbe source, the stone circle in the photos. The Elbe then forms from these swamp meadows.
In order to be able to "show" the tourists something, this stone circle was built and made the source of the Elbe - symbolic.
