For the descent I personally like to use the gondola. At the Glattalp it can be nice weather and on the weekends with a gondola capacity of only 8 people lead to very long waiting times. Then it is worth considering the descent of about 600 meters (and according to signpost information in a time of 1 hour 35 minutes) to attack on foot, or you just continue to enjoy the scenic views and waiting.

Hiking

If you want to use the cable car to start up then avoid the weekends and see that you are in front of the bus at the valley station. With a capacity of 30 people per hour you can expect a longer waiting time. You can bridge that in the cozy pickle nearby, but one hour delay (or more) can be annoying if you do not just want to go around the lake, but even further.
