Here on the Hinterrugg you can enjoy the peace and the view of Lake Walen and the Electors, who lie at your feet.

Since most people are on the Chäserrug, it is much quieter on the Hinterrugg and the view from here is at least as nice. And besides, in the back of the Hinterruggs (the more east you go) even the Walensee is wonderful to see.
The variety of vegetation up here is also very impressive and beautiful. A very worthwhile goal.

The two mountain peaks Hinterrugg and Chäserrugg are very close to each other and can be easily connected in a 15 to 20 minute walk.

Beautiful view! The easier ascent leads from Unterwasser over the Chäserrugg. From St. Johan straight here it is a little demanding but not really technically difficult either.

The Hinterrugg summit cross is a little further down on a grassy summit. It can be reached via a meadow path and here you also have a wonderful view of Lake Walen and the Rhine Valley, Flumserberge etc.

Always a detour from the Chäserrugg worth, as rarely other visitors.

Probably the somewhat less crowded summit than the Chäserrugg - if there are too many people, the short walk to the Hinterrugg is worthwhile.

It just feels fantastic when you have made the entire ascent out of the valley and the summit cross greets you.

The panorama from Hinterugg is indescribably beautiful, whether on the Walensee, to the Alvier or in the Alpstein.

The Churfirsten are - depending on how they are counted - six to thirteen mountains in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland, which together form a mountain range with a multiple interrupted First. They belong to the Appenzell Alps and lie between the upper Toggenburg and the Walensee. In earlier centuries they were on the border to the Chur domain.
