The Rhine Falls normally have the most water at the beginning of summer, not in spring. It is a fallacy that in the spring the Rhine Falls would be the most impressive because of the snowmelt. Because all the water arrives later at the Rhine Falls.

The Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen (Switzerland)
An interesting day trip from the Black Forest or Lake Constance leads to nearby Switzerland: the Rhine Falls and the beautiful medieval towns of Schaffhausen and Stein am Rhein.
The largest waterfall in Europe, the Rhine Falls, offers an impressive natural spectacle. At a width of 150 m, the Rhine (coming from Lake Constance) crashes from a height of 23 meters over the rocks.
The average runoff is 750 cubic meters per second.
Highly recommended is an exploration of the high castle Laufen. The castle complex offers an impressive view of the Rhine Falls and the rocks in the middle of the river. The way down to the Rhine leads over stairs and through a tunnel to various lookout platforms to the boat landing stage. The rock in the Rhine can be reached and climbed by ship. Or you can just bring to the other side of the Rhine to the castle Wörth, from where a nice tour along the banks of the Rhine and over the railway bridge back to the starting point.

Unfortunately very expensive prices for food and drink. Better take a backpack and cater for yourself.

The Rhine Falls Quay is the path around the semicircular, natural reservoir, in which the water of the Rhine falls after the fall over the rocks.

Paths along the shore invite you to take a walk. If you want, you can walk a circular route to the other side of the Rhine and back again.
