Unbridled power and a sign of the force of nature. But your entry is slightly salted for the natural spectacle.

The Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen (Switzerland)
An interesting day trip from the Black Forest or Lake Constance leads to nearby Switzerland: the Rhine Falls and the beautiful medieval towns of Schaffhausen and Stein am Rhein.
The largest waterfall in Europe, the Rhine Falls, offers an impressive natural spectacle. At a width of 150 m, the Rhine (coming from Lake Constance) crashes from a height of 23 meters over the rocks.
The average runoff is 750 cubic meters per second.
Highly recommended is an exploration of the high castle Laufen. The castle complex offers an impressive view of the Rhine Falls and the rocks in the middle of the river. The way down to the Rhine leads over stairs and through a tunnel to various lookout platforms to the boat landing stage. The rock in the Rhine can be reached and climbed by ship. Or you can just bring to the other side of the Rhine to the castle Wörth, from where a nice tour along the banks of the Rhine and over the railway bridge back to the starting point.

Actually worth a visit. Actually - because if there is such an exorbitant crowd as during our visit, then it is not worthwhile to pay a lot of entrance fees and at the end hardly be able to see everything in peace.

The forecourt of Schloss Laufen is a veritable market: many parking lots, souvenirs, harmony rooms and, of course, food and drink are available here for the exhausted tourist.

A beautiful old fountain stands here in front of the castle, engraved the year 1793rd How it may have looked at the time here?

"Lord, preserve us peace," is written here on the gate tower to Schloss Laufen. Originally installed in the wild times of 1546, renewed in 1942. Not for nothing, as it seems, because Switzerland has been able to preserve its peace for a very long time.

In June, the Rhine Falls carry the most water (snow melts).

Here you can experience the forces of nature up close.
Unfortunately, it costs 5 SFR directly to the Rhine Falls. If you don't want to invest that, go outside. Still an experience.

Super nice castle with the best view of the Rhine Falls. You can get into the castle without paying admission, only if you want to go to the observation deck it costs 5, but you don't need it at all
