Ruthven Barracks is an incredibly well-preserved ruin that tells of turbulent times. Built after the Jacobite rising of 1715, the barracks were later destroyed by the Jacobites after the Battle of Culloden in 1746. Today they are a scheduled monument managed by Historic Environment Scotland and free to visit any time.
