Originally there was a gravel pit here. At the end of the 1970s it became a local recreation area. On the shore of the bathing lake there is a large lawn with a small nudist area on its west side, showers and sanitary facilities. Access to the lake is free. During the bathing season between May and September there is a bathing supervision from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., outside of this time bathing is prohibited. The quality of the water is monitored by the Offenbach Health Department.

St Tropez at the quarry pond.
Last chance used before you can hardly reach Frankfurt by public transport for months, let alone Offenbach from the Taunus.
The trip along the Main to the freely accessible Offenbacher Schultheisweiher takes a maximum of 15 minutes and is an absolute pleasure. This bathing lake is a small paradise.
No admission and freely accessible, supervised and maintained, something that is otherwise only known from Bavaria.
Unfortunately, the water tips regularly and you can usually no longer use it from mid-July.
Compromise between nature conservation and human interests.
A part of the bathing lake is closed and intended for animals.
Couldn't such a solution also have been found for the wonderful green meadow pond in the Taunus, which used to be freely accessible?
In the previous generation, the Grünwiesenweiher near Anspach was even a public bathing establishment and, like so many small lakes here, is occupied by anglers' lobbies
