The Lahmeyer Bridge was originally a railway bridge that, as part of the Seckbach industrial railway, connected the Frankfurt port railway with the Seckbach industrial area from 1913, crossing the tracks of the Frankfurt–Hanau railway line. Since the 1960s and 1970s, structural change and ultimately de-industrialization have led to the industrial railways becoming less important and finally being discontinued in the 1990s. Since then, the Lahmeyer Bridge has only been a pedestrian bridge. Incidentally, the bridge is named after the engineering company Wilhelm Lahmeyer & Co., which was founded in 1890.
