The residential area Riederwald in the east of Frankfurt was built essentially between 1909 and 1912 and between 1926 and 1928. The housing development of the first construction phase prior to the First World War, built with funds from the Volks-Bau- und Sparverein Frankfurt, is still characterized by the so-called Heimatstil, while the buildings completed in the 1920s under the housing program "Neues Frankfurt" under Ernst Mays originated.
