Best Hikes to Arzberg Reservoir

Tips

  • The lake is a paradise for anglers and day trippers. The path around the lake is handicapped accessible and is often used. Various hiking trails also lead there. At the lake there is also a campsite with long-term campers, a restaurant and a parking lot.
The history of the reservoir begins as early as 1870, when alum ore and lignite were mined there - and the "Klausenteich" was created in an open-pit mine. Destroyed by a flood in 1935, it was rebuilt by the local innkeeper and expanded in the 1970s to become a cooling water reservoir for the former power plant in Arzberg.

  • The reservoir is used on one side for fishing and on the other hand as a recreational area. Restaurant, small campsite. Parking is available. In addition, many hiking trails start here u.a. also to the Kohlberg, from whose spire you have a wonderful 360 Grand all-round view
