Best Hikes to Devil’s Jumps Bronze Age Barrows

Tips

  • Devil’s Jumps is a series of well-preserved Bronze Age barrows (cemeteries) just off the South Downs Way. Whilst these ancient burials are the main reason to visit, you get lovely views towards Beacon Hill and Underbeacon Reserve from this spot. The surrounding area is also of great interest ecologically for the presence of both classic chalk grassland and acidic clay-cap supporting chalk heath, a very rare feature of old chalk.
