The botanist Friedrich Erhardt (1742-1795) found a spring with a high sulfur content in the Eilenriede.
In 1794 the then mayor E. A. Heiliger had a stone block erected over this spring.
There it says:

Divinity dwells in the well
O guest worship the source
Drink the liquid out of it
Saint once 1794
Over time, the spring has almost dried up due to the sinking of the groundwater level.
