After several changes of ownership, Leonhard Anton von Voith acquired the property and in 1749 converted the building, which had previously been used as a mill and saw, into a glass-cutting shop that was operated with water power.
It wasn't until a century later that glass processing brought unprecedented prosperity to the entire Upper Palatinate region.
As early as the end of the 19th century, the onset of industrialization led to the decline of this branch of the economy.
