The reservoir in the Göscheneralptal lies at 1,792 meters above sea level in the middle of a scenic hiking and climbing paradise.
The Göscheneralptal is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Alps. It is home to a rich flora and offers a magnificent mountain backdrop with glaciers and lots of water. The Göscheneralpsee was created 60 years ago and contains around 75 million cubic meters of water. Today it serves as a storage lake for Kraftwerk Göschenen AG.
There is a narrow but easily accessible path around the lake, which leads through alpine pastures and moorland. The Göscheneralpsee with its dam can be reached by post bus or car.

Göschneralpsee is the correct name for the reservoir.

The Göscheneralpsee lies at 1,792 meters and has a maximum depth of a good 100 meters. The lake's massive dam is considered the highest stone dam (a planted earth dam) in Switzerland.
You can walk around the lake on a hike. While the front part is rather rocky, the back part is a moorland landscape.
