Tips

  • The reservoir in the Göscheneralptal lies at 1,792 meters above sea level in the middle of a scenic hiking and climbing paradise.
The Göscheneralptal is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Alps. It is home to a rich flora and offers a magnificent mountain backdrop with glaciers and lots of water. The Göscheneralpsee was created 60 years ago and contains around 75 million cubic meters of water. Today it serves as a storage lake for Kraftwerk Göschenen AG.
There is a narrow but easily accessible path around the lake, which leads through alpine pastures and moorland. The Göscheneralpsee with its dam can be reached by post bus or car.
