A "situation plan", taken from the Royal Government Conductor Gadebusch, dates from 1823. It shows the property of the farmer Peters from Benz with the Dutch windmill on it. It is uncertain whether this plan was part of the application documents for the construction of the mill, but it can be assumed.
In the course of the Prussian state reforms under Friedrich Wilhelm III. In 1812, with the edict on freedom of trade, the compulsory guild and thus also the so-called “forced meal justice” were abolished. As a result, the farmers were no longer tied to a certain privileged mill. For this reason, in principle anyone who had the necessary prerequisites could build and operate a mill. Farmer Peters must have met these requirements. However, he was brought back to the hard ground of the new competition quite quickly. On December 19, 1828 he sold the mill to the farmer Maschke, who passed it on to the farmer Karl Mau the following year.
