A fuselage ferry is a type of ferry that uses the flow of the river. The ferry hangs on a long wire rope, which splits just before the vehicle. A rope end is attached to the bow and one at the stern of the ferry. The wire rope is anchored at the river bank, so that the fairway remains free and marked for the navigation with a buoy. By changing the length of the ends to each other, the angle of attack of the ferry to the current changes. The pressure of the incoming water pushes them to the shore. Adjusting the rope ends is done today with engine power, otherwise the ferry needs no engine.

Very important if you hike on the E11, it is the crossing of the Elbe, otherwise you have to take a long detour.
