Elisabeth of Thuringia (* 1207 in Bratislava or castle Rákóczi in Sárospatak (Hungary), † November 17, 1231 in Marburg an der Lahn), also called Elisabeth of Hungary, was a Hungarian princess, German landgravine, is saint of the Catholic Church and was considered a "German national saint". The name day of the patron saint of Thuringia and Hesse falls on 19 November, the day of her funeral. As a symbol of neighborly charity, the saint is also worshiped in Protestantism.
