It was already documented in 1130 and was until about 1300 the parish church of Tirschenreuth. Probably the oldest church in the area lies on the presumed old imperial road.
The current building, with a flat ceiling and four window yokes, dates from around 1720. Of the new equipment, only the old chair cheeks of the Baroque period and the oil painting of the violinists before St. Kümmernis "(1st half of the 17th century) should be mentioned. The cult of St. Kümmernis may be related to the once flourishing textile industry in Tirschenreuth.
