During your tour along the coast of Donegal, a stop at the imposing Rathmullan Fort is a must. This robust coastal battery was built by the British around 1810 to guard the deep waters of Lough Swilly against a possible invasion by Napoleon's fleet. With its thick stone walls and strategic location, it is a beautifully preserved example of 19th-century military architecture. Within this fort, you will also find the Flight of the Earls Heritage Centre.
