A long sandy bay stretches out in front of Rathmullan. With shallow water, it is an ideal place for a dip. You can also head inland to explore the ruins of the Carmelite Priory which dates from 1516. The sculpture on the green is called The Flight of the Earls (Irish: Imeacht na nIarlaí). It was unveiled in 2007 to commemorate 400th anniversary of the significant moment in Irish history which defined the end of the old Gaelic order.
