Mountain Biking Highlight
With a pass height of 421 m, the Iron Hand represents the lowest crossing over the wooded Taunus between Schlangenbad (B 260) and Niedernhausen (A 3) and thus marks a traffic route between downtown Wiesbaden and the upper Aartal. Here the historic iron road between Michelbacher hut and Wiesbaden crosses the ridge. The transition is today from the federal highway 54 and was used until the decommissioning of the Aartalbahn, which has the station iron hand on the crest of the route. This was rebuilt after a fire in 2004 and used since 2007 as a restaurant Waldgeist the Iron Hand. The Iron Hand is the starting point for a well-developed network of hiking trails in the nature park Rhein-Taunus. Among other things, the Rheinhöhenweg runs over this pass.
