Location: Chiemgau, Traunstein, Upper Bavaria, Bavaria, Germany
Trauwenstain itself was first mentioned in 1245 in a document from Baumburg Abbey. The name means castle on the Traun, and with some probability this was the seat of the Lords of Truna, surrounded by a small settlement. It was only the Wittelsbach family who expanded and fortified them according to plan and thus controlled the Traun crossing of the important salt road from Reichenhall to Munich on the border to the Archbishopric of Salzburg.

A nice city with a historic old town. Next to the town square on the pigeon market there is the pasta arte where we ate deliciously. Very nice landlords and excellent pasta.
