    Tips

    May 6, 2026

The Woodside was an 87-foot steamer built in 1878 that provided regular service between Victoria, Port Renfrew, Barkley Sound, and the Alberni Inlet, before losing her rudder on March 12th, 1888 and drifting into the rock shelf in front of Trestle Creek. The ship was a total loss, disintegrating over the years, with little left but her anchor, which still sits on the beach more than a century later.
