This is a great spot to get a fantastic view of Sea Lion Haul Out Rock stretching out below you. Every year in May, Steller sea lions return to this rookery to mate and raise their pups, with the dominant males staking out territories and remaining on the rocks, usually without entering the water until August. You can hear them before even reaching this viewpoint, barking and jostling as the tides go in and out, and if you’re lucky, you may even see grey whales, which are sometimes spotted offshore from here.
