From this junction, you have a choice between a beach route and a forest route, with the two rejoining at a small bridge over Clonard Creek. The beach route is only available when the tide is below 2.4 metres, taking you along roughly ½ kilometre of shoreline, while the forest route climbs up and over a bluff via a few ladders. Pachena Beach itself stretches for 3 kilometres of fine, sandy shoreline, and is well worth taking in before the trail pulls you into the thick coastal rainforest ahead.
