From 1396 to 1802, Großsüßen belonged to the territory of the Imperial City of Ulm and was administered by an official. This house, newly built in 1712, was his residence and office. When Ulm, and thus Großsüßen, first came to Kurbayern in 1802 and then to Württemberg in 1810, the building was used as a Protestant parsonage from 1804 until the municipality of Süßen acquired it in 1980 and, after its renovation, established the town library there from 1981 to 1983.

When marauding French Soldateska devastated a large part of Großsüßen on July 16, 1707, the entire archive and registry inventory from before 1707 also burned in the Ulm office building.
