During the War of Spanish Succession, on 16 July 1707, French troops burnt down many houses of grand-sweeteners, including the "Zum Schwarzen Adler" hostel, first mentioned in 1512. It was rebuilt in the same year. In 1826, the municipality of GroßsÃ¼nse bought the estate and set up a council chamber and two classrooms and two apartments. Since the reunification of Groß- und Kleinsüße 1933, the town hall of the new town of Süßen has been rebuilt here. The last major renewal took place in 1989.

Hiking

In 1682, the innkeeper of the “Zum schwarzen Adler” hostel, Hans Miller, had the “Anbäule” built next to the Ulm office, on the southern barn adjacent to the courtyard, probably to accommodate more guests. Like most of the surrounding buildings, it burned down in July 1707. As with the hostel, it was not rebuilt until 1735.
