High Sweden Bridge is a super nice example of a 17th-century stone-built packhorse bridge. It goes over picturesque Scandale Beck. A lane called Sweden Bridgel Lane leads to it from Ambleside. The name is said to derive from the old Norse word svithinn, meaning an area of land cleared for farming. It is a beautiful and much photographed spot.
