The picture shows the Scaliger Bridge (Ponte Scaligero) together with Castelvecchio Castle in Verona. This historic, fortified red brick bridge was built in the 14th century to connect the castle with the opposite bank of the Adige River. The bridge was destroyed in World War II and later rebuilt true to the original. Today, the structure serves as a pedestrian bridge and is a well-known landmark of the city.
