Mystical Chindlistei
The sandstone is covered with deep and long grooves, bowls, steps and various embossings from recent times. Fractures prove that stone was once mined there. The rocky outcrop is popularly known as the "Tüfelskänzeli" or "Hexenkänzeli", which dates back to the time of the Appenzell witch hunts (14th - 17th centuries). There are many other legends about the stone, for example it is said to have helped women to become fertile.
The only thing that has been proven, however, is the power of the stone. The Chindlistei has an increased energy potential of 15,000 Bovis units.
The west side of the sandstone is characterized by two natural indentations in which three figures are painted.
