The Benedictine convent was founded in the 17th century and was an important religious center of the city for several centuries. The monastic community dedicated itself to prayer, education, and the preservation of monastic tradition. The complex testifies to the importance of women's orders in the spiritual life of Dinan during the early modern period. Parts of the historic buildings have been preserved to this day.
