The Riveufer (with its boat landing) in Halle (Saale) is considered the city's most famous and beautiful promenade. The approximately two-kilometer-long promenade runs along the Saale River in the Giebichenstein district and offers a direct view of the river and the Klausberge hills opposite. The main berth for the MS Händel II, which offers river cruises on the Saale, is located at Riveufer (Steg 1). The riverbank is named after Richard Robert Rive, who served as mayor of Halle from 1906 to 1933 and significantly modernized the city.
