Mountain biking
At the western edge of the Steigerwald, the reed sandstone of the middle Keuper is mined as a working stone at Abtswind in Ortelsbruch. The rock is formed as a fairly uniform fine-grained, feldspatiferous sandstone and from yellow-gray to dark yellow color. The binder is predominantly clayey. The sometimes greenish color is due to the mineral chlorite. The sandstone is suitable for window and door walls, massive work and as a sculptor's stone.
