The Lüntec-Tower (also called Colani-Ei or UFO) is the futuristic redesign of a headframe of the former coal mine Minister Achenbach in the Brambauer district of Lüner.

After mine 4 of the Minister Achenbach colliery was shut down in 1990, the RAG used the site for apprentice training until 1992. Thereafter, the technology center Lünen, or Lüntec for short, was built in the administration and chewing building built in 1922. It was founded on October 11, 1991. [1] The renovation work started in 1993 was completed in May 1995 when the Colani egg was placed on the headframe.

The object, based on a sketch by the designer Luigi Colani, is intended to clearly illustrate the structural change in the Ruhr area. It is one of several themed routes on the Route of Industrial Culture.

Since mid-2009, the "UFO" shines in new splendor. After extensive renovation work, a business lounge with a panoramic view of Lünen and the surrounding area was created at a height of 35 meters. The shaft hall became the foyer and is used as an event room.

In 2008, the ensemble was supplemented by the black cube, which extends the office space of the technology center. In this context, it received the 2009 artwork of the year award from the Lünen Art Association.

At RUHR.2010, the ensemble of buildings was presented together with other art and cultural objects as part of the project Luminous Heads of the Lippe Region.

A nice excursion destination with the Tockhausen dump. Especially since the LünTec Cafe also offers a nice end to the tour.
