Immediately behind the town parish church of Merano, the former bones and cemetery chapel of the old cemetery of Merano, which was only abandoned in 1848, was built. The chapel was consecrated to Saint Barbara in 1450 and is a two-storey building with an octagonal floor plan in the Gothic style. The crypt in the basement was used as an ossuary tomb. The upper floor is characterized by an elegant Gothic pointed arch portal and a magnificent rose window. You can also admire an elegant star vault inside the Barbara Chapel.
