The Klausfelsen, also called "Naheloreley". The legend reports that a monster lived in the water below the rock and that a virgin had to be sacrificed to him every year. The suffering of the population was very great. Maybe there weren't enough suitable victims left, so a farmer named Klaus had to destroy the beast with a brave deed. The name probably also goes back to Klause = water dam or border and is possibly related to the very close border between the Roman provinces of Upper and Lower Germany (claudere = to close) Source: Text information board
