Based on the engraving by J. Le Roy, the first castle was built in the Baroque style with a moat, drawbridges, a gatehouse, a projecting, open portal, and two tower buildings at the corners. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the Count's Castle was owned by the noble families of De Croy and De Salm-Kyrbourg.
