The stone cross probably originally stood on a mound reinforced with stones and closer to Hummelsbroich, where the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) is located today. It was then moved to its current location on the occasion of the construction of the A4 motorway. The approximately 70-centimeter-high cross is unfortunately already badly weathered.
With the help of the inscription, it was possible to find out that a Dirrich Rutger jun. was abducted by Swedish soldiers in 1636. He was probably murdered here in Königsforst on the edge of the "Brüderstraße", and his family later had this cross erected.
