During the Thirty Years' War, the Bavarian General Johann Graf von Tilly took Pilsen and the district of Elbow. His Bohemian opponent Mansfeld had to retreat. General Tilly and his men took a firm position on the Steinberg.
Traces of the "ditches" that led from the ski jump for kilometers can still be seen today. The square complex consists of a wall with a ditch on the outside and has a side length of about 27 meters. The embankment can still be seen clearly, but is now in the middle of the forest. The ski jump is only a few meters as the crow flies from the Bärnauer Grenzlandturm tower, right on the state border.
Those who have found the hidden mound can climb the two meter high embankment and have a wonderful view towards Tirschenreuth from the top of the rampart.
