The Great Wummsee is a beautiful clear water lake.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gro%C3%9Fer_Wummsee
The large Wummsee is located in the north of Brandenburg, directly on the border with Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which runs on the northern shore of the lake. The lake has an area of 144 hectares and is up to 35 meters deep. The large depth of view of the nutrient-poor and very clear lake makes aquatic plants grow even 13 meters deep. The large Wummsee lies in a Endmoränenlandschaft with steep banks and was formed from numerous dead ice dens, which shows itself still today on the strongly structured shoreline. The area of the Great Wum Lake was declared in 1967 together with the Twernsee and the silted up Kleine Wummsee in 1967 to the nature reserve Wumm and Ternsee. The name of the lake is derived from the former Slavic settlement Wumsow on the south shore of the lake. In the 18th century, on the southeastern shore, at the junction with the Kapellensee, was a glassworks called the Greenhouse, because it produced green glass. The production in the hut was discontinued in 1889. At the place is still a small settlement. In the northwest of the lake there are two larger islands Big and Small Horst. Also in the east there is a smaller island (also called flower basket). On the western shore of the lake is the Maronstein, a memorial stone for forester I. Maron.
