The 35-hectare protected forest – located northeast of you – preserves and develops an old, groundwater-influenced forest site as a near-natural research area, strengthens the natural balance, protects endangered plants and animals, and simultaneously maintains its unique character and scenic beauty. As a valuable section of the vegetation mosaics typical of the Lusatian Lowlands, consisting of pine, spruce-pine, and birch-pedunculate oak forests, as well as a mesotrophic-acidic fen, it is being scientifically studied in the long term without direct human intervention.

Hiking

Throughout the entire Loben nature reserve, you will find, among other things, many information boards about the history of the moor landscape. Another highlight is the 5m high observation tower. Wooden boardwalks lead to the moors.
