The Kander diversion, carried out with picks and shovels, took place in 1711 and subsequently cost 5 people their lives.
An information board on site commemorates the impressive construction project, which was primarily intended for flood protection of the lower-lying communities. The most impressive view into the Kander gorge is obtained from the "Strättligsteg". As of 2026 and until further notice, unfortunately closed due to erosion damage!!!!
