    Hiking

Extremely worthwhile hiking destination - beautiful castle ruins with great opportunities to stop off, the castle tavern offers South Tyrolean specialties and of course simple refreshments. A very special experience is a round of archery on the 3D course in the forest - great fun is guaranteed!

Beautiful castle which is still well preserved, there is also a restaurant which has closed on Wednesdays

    Hiking

Steep climb, which is worthwhile because of the atmospheric castle and the very good food. You sit under hanging grapes while the children shoot at 3D targets with sports bows.
The further path to Bunyol Castle has it all and is only for sure-footed and fit hikers.

Embark on the Three Castles Trail, a difficult hike spanning 3.1 miles (5.0 km) with a significant elevation gain of 735 feet (224 metres). You can expect to complete this route in about 1 hour and 47 minutes. The path takes you through picturesque vineyards and orchards, transitioning into light forests and rocky areas. As you hike, you will encounter the impressive Appiano Castle, known for its Romanesque frescoes. The trail offers expansive views across the Etsch Valley, Bolzano, and the distant Dolomites.

Prepare for a challenging hike on this route. It includes demanding sections with steep ascents and descents, especially when you descend into the gorge from Hocheppan Castle and climb towards Castel Boymont using suspended staircases. These parts can be slippery, so sure-footedness is essential. Make sure you wear sturdy shoes to navigate the varied terrain safely. Planning your visit during dry weather will help you best enjoy the trail's features.
