Instead of old lift bridge next to it, the new one is attached. The old one is already dismantled
June 19, 2019
The new Huntebrücke is part of the new construction of the federal highway 212 in Lower Saxony. Thanks to the efficient lifting and lowering mechanism, the waiting times of road users have been significantly reduced. The clearance height, which is 1.90 m greater than that of the old lift bridge, also contributes to this.
The new bridge has a total length of 84 m, making it the largest single-wing bascule bridge in Germany. The western approach bridge is about 60 m long, the eastern one about 90 m. The bridge superstructure is made of steel, the substructure is made of reinforced concrete. The structure was designed with a flat foundation and is supported by an abutment. The folding wing reaches a height of 70 mThe span of the bridge is 66.3 m, the construction width is 14.65 m. When the bridge is fully open, the folding wing reaches a height of 70 m. The rear part of the bridge deck sinks into the basement of the bridge pillar and serves as a counterweight.
