This church, designed by Jacques van Groenendael, was built in 1895.

It is a neo-Gothic hall church with a lower, three-sided closed choir. The nave of the church has a gable roof covered with slate. The facade is flanked by a pointed stair turret and has a portal with a rose window and a clockwork. The bells are located in a skylight.

The interior of the church has a pointed barrel vault and contains stained glass windows from 1947, designed by Charles Eyck. In addition, there are various polychrome statues of saints and a rood screen.

Despite the damage and looting during the period from October to December 1944, the church was largely restored. Since 2002, the church has been recognized as a national monument.

St. Barbara's Church was built in 1895 to a design by Jac. van Groenendael Jr. The church building, built in the traditionalist style, is a national monument and of cultural-historical significance. It serves as an example of spiritual and typological development in the architecture of Roman Catholic churches in the second half of the 19th century.

The church has an urban developmental function due to its special significance for the appearance of Griendtsveen, particularly as the core of the religious ensemble on Helenaveenseweg. Finally, the church is of general importance due to the architectural integrity of its exterior and its rarity in terms of cultural and architectural history.

In the cemetery of St. Barbara's Church, you will find the grave of regional novelist Toon Kortooms. At his express wish, the writer was buried in the Peel region, his beloved.
