The most famous statue on the bridge! Roughly in the middle of the bridge is a cross with a relief marking the spot where Saint John Nepomuk was thrown into the Vltava River in 1393 on the orders of Wenceslaus IV, because he refused to keep his vow of silence during confession, even to the king.

He is therefore considered the patron saint of bridges in the Catholic Church, and touching the relief is said to bring good luck, which is why it is always spotlessly clean. This custom is also applied to the statue of Saint John Nepomuk, so the bare patches and crowds of people are also noticeable there.
