It took a long time to close the gap. For years you had to leave the route and drive downhill to the village. Then through the village it went on side streets and then up the mountain to drive back onto the route.
The gap is in the former area of the Ober-Seemen train station. After the railway line was closed, the railing was taken over by the sawmill that was already adjacent. At some point the sawmill burned down. The cycle path was not built until much later.
