sturdy shoes, take water. Either totally early or start in the afternoon, otherwise you have to with the flood of people up the mountain. That means then in the traffic jam (!) The mountain up or down.

Recommended only in dry weather, the stones are otherwise very slippery.

As one of the most spectacular viewpoints in Norway, the Preikestolen is probably one of the country's most popular hiking destinations. The platform drops vertically over 600 meters into the sea and offers a fantastic view over the Lysefjord and the surrounding mountains. It is best to start early in the morning to enjoy the view in front of the tourist crowds.

If you like to have some time outside the crowd, and the chance to take a picture alone on a rock far above the fjord, then make this extra walk !

In any case, put on hiking boots or sturdy shoes, I was up in the rain and fog but it was all worth it! In between, it always clears up and it is still an adventure there and worth seeing, because there are mountains, lakes, waterfalls to look at.
Food and drink I would recommend to take.

Impressive rock pulpit that rises 600 meters from the Lysefjord.

Worthwhile is the hike in any case. The pleasure is spoiled by the literal migration that takes place on fine days. Therefore, you have to leave early (our alarm rings 5.00) before the mob rolls on. Goes up with full camera battery-I had noticed at least 3-4 people whose batteries were empty

The spot is great, but it´s not a secret...... be prepared to walk with a lot of people from all around the world !

Very nice and spectacular view. In the summer unfortunately very crowded. Either start at 7:00 in the morning or start at 16:00 in the afternoon. The peak of people is between 10 and 16. Enjoy!

Be sure to wear sturdy shoes. Partly slippery and large stone steps to cope with the hike. (Unlike the Chinese who make their way with flip-flops and croks). In addition, pack weather-resistant clothes, as the weather on the Preikestolen can change every minute.

Bonus tip: Especially worth the climb is the climb above the Preikestolen. The route is not signposted and should therefore only be walked by safe hikers. However, you will be rewarded with a fantastic view over the Preikestolen and the fjord.

We were there in the summer of 2018 dreamlike. Absolutely sturdy footwear.
And whoever has knee problems better not make the descent will go to hell.

A great hike. About 4h. Attention big Touri streams. Would recommend the hike with the small circuit. So you can dodge the stream and enjoy the Preikestolen from above.

    Parking costs about 20 €
    Take water with you.
Hold caps well. It blows a strong wind, directly on Preikestolen.
Bathing suits for the lake can also be taken.

Grandiose views in breathtaking scenery! A must for every fan of great views!
Absolutely start at the crack of dawn otherwise you have to reckon with jam on tricky passages. On beautiful days there are literally Völkerwanderungen statt.Das is the only downer of the hike. And maybe the aching bones ... ;-) ~
