Sineu is a municipality on the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca. It is located in the middle of the island on the es Plà plain. The parish church Nuestra Senyora de los Angeles with a small church museum is worth seeing. The church was first mentioned in 1248 and rebuilt after a fire in the 16th century. The Lleó de Sant Marc monument in the church square in honor of the patron saint, St. Mark, and the Convento de las Monjas monastery.
One of Sineu's attractions is the weekly cattle and handicraft market on Wednesday mornings, which is the only real farmers' market on Mallorca. It has existed since 1306. You can buy almost anything in the market, from local products to clothing. One of the biggest attractions of the market is the animal market.

The weekly market is almost purely a tourist event. There is rubbish, but also good/beautiful - at inflated prices.
Only the covered animal market at the northern end is still "authentic". A few locals actually still buy individual animals here.
At one stand, photographing the animals even costs money.

We found the market visit very nice. There was live music, freshly fried chips, freshly squeezed orange juice and then a delicious cappuccino in one of the cafés on the square. We'll be back 😃
