The CO2 forest nature trail on the Rheinsteig was opened in June 2014. The path addresses the positive effects of the forest on the climate and is intended to encourage people to act sustainably. The Hessen-Forst state company has designed 18 display boards, some of which are interactive, as well as several demonstration objects and set them up along the Rheinsteig long-distance hiking trail together with the city of Geisenheim and the Rhein-Taunus Nature Park. You will find the path between the nature park hiking car park “Antoniuskapelle” and the Nothgottes monastery.
The display boards on the Rheinsteig appeal to thousands of hikers every year. The CO2 educational trail is a real benefit for students to learn about the connections between forests, photosynthesis and climate in nature! You can find the “Antoniuskapelle” hiking car park on the K 630. Coming from Geisenheim, it is the first forest car park on the left in the direction of Pressberg.
